Closure of the Taagepera Bridge for Reconstruction
The Taagepera Bridge will be closed for reconstruction from 13 March 2026 to 15 June 2026. The purpose of the works is to ensure the safety of the bridge and extend its lifespan.
During the reconstruction period, vehicle passage over the bridge is closed. Please use the designated detour routes.
What visitors should know
- Detours are clearly marked both on-site and in map applications.
- Please allow extra travel time and follow temporary traffic signs.
Thank you for your understanding, and we apologise for any inconvenience. The bridge is planned to reopen on 15 June 2026, although the date may vary depending on weather conditions and the progress of the works.

- Tartu → Wagenküll ~ 85 km / ~ 1 h 15 min.
- Pärnu → Wagenküll ~ 100 km / ~ 1 h 20 min.
- Viljandi → Wagenküll ~ 47 km / ~ 40 min.
- Valga → Wagenküll ~ 45 km / ~ 45 min.
Free parking is available on site. Follow the signs for “Taagepera/Helme/Tõrva”; the last stretch of the road takes you directly to the castle park entrance.
By public transport:
- The nearest stop is Taagepera (stop “Taagepera” or “Taagepera loss” – depending on the route).
- Connections from Tõrva, Viljandi and Valga are available; check routes and departures in real time in Moovit.
Tip: If you are coming from farther away (e.g. from Tallinn or Tartu), it’s convenient to take a train or bus to the Viljandi / Valka/Valga area and from there a local bus to Taagepera.
